Sign Language Android app for Facebook community ‘Het Gebaar van de Dag’

​Each day, Emily an 11 year old records a video to teach sign language to the classmates of her sister who has Down Syndrome. Once she and her family decided to start a Facebook community and publish the videos there too, it immediately became a hit and they got thousands of likes in no time. We made an Android app for them that through a one click publishing solution, fetches their videos from Facebook and presents them in a Sign Language app for Android.

How to publish an app on the iTunes, Android and Windows Phone store?

Having your app designed and developed is one thing, having it published is something else. Our clients sometimes use our Publisher accounts on the iTunes, Android and Windows Phone stores to get started, but to give them complete control I always recommend our clients to have their own Publisher account set up. In this article I describe what to-do and what not to-do in publishing your iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Phone apps.

Online community to educate young people on sexual health

For ASK, we designed and developed an online community that helps young people in Pakistan to better understand the way their bodies work and to educate them on sexual health. This online community is part of a larger campaign by approximately 10 partner organizations who work all over Pakistan in health education, prevention and health care. Grappetite is the technical partner in the ASK campaign, supporting these partner organizations with technology, so that young Pakistani people have access to up to date and accurate information on sexual and reproductive health. ASK is an initiative of Rutgers WPF, AMREF Flying Doctors, CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality, dance4life, IPPF, Simavi and STOP AIDS NOW!

The best sweet treat of The Netherlands brought to Pakistan

Royal Bakeries is a new wholesale bakery in Pakistan that produces Holland’s best sweet treat: the Stroopwafel. These caramel filled waffles are handcrafted daily in a bakery in Karachi, from carefully selected local, high quality, organic ingredients. In-house sales apps for Novo Nordisk

Novo Nordisk is a global health care company mainly focussed on diabetes care, working in over 80 countries. For Novo Nordisk Pakistan we have designed, developed and localised several existing and new apps. These apps are used by Novo Nordisk’s representatives on their visits to hospitals and doctors and replace the stacks of paper sales representatives typically carry with them.

Digital publication library app for Android

For our client Avot Media we developed the Android version of a digital publication library app. The library contains magazine or any publications in PDF format that can be purchased or just downloaded into the app to build up a document library. Documents from the library can be read through the easy to use built-in PDF reader.

Online identity for eye hospital Vision International

Vision International, an NGO mainly working in the Northern areas of Pakistan (Gilgit-Baltistan), who provides high quality eye care in remote areas. We designed and developed their new corporate identity and website.

Jago Javano - Encouraging the Christian Youth of Pakistan

Musician Paul Stock has been involved with contextualized arts and music forms in Pakistan for many years. His aim is to channel the potential of the Christian Youth of Pakistan towards a more positive, encouraging and caring role towards others, as well as help spread peace and harmony. His team’s latest project is around a dozen music videos in the Urdu language, called Jago Javano. We designed as well as developed the iPad and iPhone app for these music videos.

Customer service app for SwissLife

For life insurance company SwissLife we moved their existing iPhone customer service app to Android. The app helps the user in finding a nearby dealer on a map, getting the latest stock updates, finding product information and contacting the customer service department.

Interactive conversation ice breaker for Agapè Student Life

The Dutch student organisation Agapè Student Life visits university campuses to meet students and talk with them about the meaning of life. Not an easy topic, so we designed and developed an interactive tool (iPad and website) to help them break the ice and start the conversation.

Web based primary school student tracking system

For the Dutch organisation Klassewerk, we developed a web based student tracking system for primary schools. Teachers can access interactive lesson plans, assess the students’ performance and keep track of their performance. Challenging lessons are offered to those students who perform above average, those who struggle are helped with supporting lessons. The whole system was designed by the talented illustrator Thomas van Oostrum.

Use your iPhone to check how fast your bicycle wheel

If you are not interested in engineering you better stop reading now, but there are people on this planet who are interested in the RPM of a rotating object. The Australian structural engineer Peter Thew is one of them and with him we have developed a strobe light / tachometer app for iPhone that uses the flashlight on your phone to help calculate the speed. So the next time you are wondering how fast your bicycle wheel rotates make sure you check it out with this free app.

Annotate screenshots or highlight parts of a picture

If you regularly use screenshots as part of an online discussion with someone or if you want to emphasize a part of a picture on your presentation you know what a hassle it is to make this happen using programs like Photoshop. For our client, re:stacks, we developed the Light Up image editor for Mac that allows you to easily get this job done.

Customer service apps for insurance company Menzis

For our client Mobigan we updated the customer service app of the Dutch Health Insurance company, Menzis. With the app, Menzis’ clients find answers to their frequently asked questions, can contact the customer service department on their iPhone or Android, and locate Menzis branches.

Baie Lekker South African recipe app

South Africa born and bred chef Marika Rentier discovered cooking as her way to ‘survive’ the harsh Dutch winters, after she moved from the subtropical south to The Netherlands. The result: an app with delicious recipes that bring the best of South Africa to your kitchen. This app is the first of a new framework we developed that allows chefs to quickly set up their own recipe app and make money by selling recipe books as inapp purchases.

Customer support app web hosting provider Neostrada

For web hosting provider Neostrada we developed an app that allows their customers to check the availability of domain names and register them on their smartphone. The app is linked to the existing backend system of Neostrada that takes care of the actual registration of the domain names and invoicing.

Get insights on your consumer’s behavior with OgO

Location and time are amongst the most important pieces of information for any mobile marketer. For our Canadian client OgO we developed a platform that allows their clients to add a location tracking module to their app so that they will have insight into consumer movement patterns and behavior like never before. With the user’s permission, their location is tracked and matched with a Places and Points of Interest database to enrich the data. Read More.

Harry Hamster kids picture book and games

Don’t push the buttons, Harry Hamster! is an exciting, good-humoured, interactive picture book for iPhone and iPad with games and sound effects. Harry is going to the spaceport, with his dad. There is just one condition: he is not allowed to touch any buttons. That’s not easy for a hamster who loves buttons… We designed and developed this book with the Dutch children’s books author Corien Oranje (wrote over 40 books) and illustrator and cartoonist Willeke Brouwer. Harry’s story is written and spoken in English, Dutch, Indonesian, Urdu and Frysk. Get it Now.

Money management app for HBL Bank

For digital advertising agency The Brand Crew we worked on the expansion of MoneyWise, a money management app for HBL Bank (Pakistan’s largest bank). We have added an ATM locator. The app runs natively on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Nokia Symbian.

Presentation app for Dettol

For Dettol we made a presentation app for Android. The app is used by Dettol representatives, to inform their customers about hand hygiene. Dettol is part of Reckitt Benckiser, also known for brands like Air Wick, Clearasil, Mortein, Veet and Durex.

Live app for Swiss wrestling event

Schwingen, wrestling, is one of the most popular sports in Switzerland. It’s like football in England plus Baseball in the USA plus cricket in Pakistan. For our client Innotix, we made the Android version of the official SAP ESAF tournament app. It has live standings, all player information, everything you need to know if you are at the venue, and a live betting game.
